When my ferry from San Pedro was cancelled, I had to leave a day early for Bacalar. Hotel Aires had no room available for that extra night, but the staff went out of their way to find me a room at a hotel across the street. They were amazing both before I arrived and during my stay. I loved this hotel in every way: the room was clean and comfortable, with a lovely porch, and the shared spaces were great, including the pool, rooftop, and nice breakfast area with a tasty complimentary menu. The location was perfect. Bacalar is a magical place, too. Highly recommend!

The hotel gets 9/10 from me, with Wi-Fi as the one thing that could be improved. Service was a perfect 10/10. The staff were so friendly and helpful, arranging a boat trip on the lagoon and giving us restaurant suggestions we still talk about. The rooftop terrace was great, with different seating areas and four hammocks. Breakfast had lots of choice and was fresh, and the waffles were divine. Our room was huge, with a massive sofa comfortable enough to sleep on, a balcony with a hammock and chair, a fan, air conditioning, and an enormous bed. Even the spacious shower felt like a private spa. We were warmly welcomed and check-in was easy, even though the weather outside looked like a disaster movie. What a fantastic stay, this hotel is a gem!

The receptionist was so kind and gave us the best tips and recommendations for what to do nearby, which really made our stay special. The rooms were clean and the vibe is really nice. You can hang out on the rooftop and bring your own drink if you like. We had a great stay here.

The air conditioning unit above my bed dripped onto my forehead a few times. I moved the mattress a little away from the wall, possibly because the humidity was high, but still... The gardens and balcony get five stars, and all the large plantings made it feel quiet and secluded even in the middle of a busy beach area. The small saltwater pool was nice, and there’s a great shaded spot behind the changing rooms and shower. There is NOT a hot tub, despite what Google maps says.
