Hotel Casa Corazón

We’d happily stay here again. The setting is a dream, the service was nice, and we thought the price was really good for what you get. The bathroom could use a bit of freshening up, but it didn’t affect how much we enjoyed our holiday. Being able to bring your own food and drinks is handy for families and backpackers, too.

We left after seeing the room, but they refused to return our money even though we asked within ten minutes. I have a bowel disorder and need to sit on a toilet, so I had to find another hotel. There was no toilet seat, and the toilet itself was filthy and rusty. They said they couldn’t do anything to help us. The balcony’s sliding door was broken and very difficult to open or close, and there wasn’t even a blanket in the room. In my 65 years, this is the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed at. The customer service and concern for guests just aren’t there. The place was disgusting, and I’d never recommend it. The other hotel we found was beautiful and cost the same, and it had a toilet seat. DO NOT STAY HERE.

The lagoon access was amazing, and that’s the one thing that earned this place an extra star. Otherwise, it needs far more than a fresh coat of paint. Buyer beware. Two receptionists were warm and welcoming, but the third seemed indifferent. We were charged more than the TripAdvisor price. The room was cramped, with a full bed and a single squeezed in, and the floor was dirty. The locks felt flimsy, and the sliding glass door didn’t lock. The shower backed up, though the hot water was good. A saloon door between the room and toilet offered little privacy. The thin pillows were a problem, and staff didn’t seem to care when we asked for extras. The receptionist only reluctantly got some after I explained that someone in our group was ill. At night, we could hear everything from the lobby while trying to sleep, including the phone ringing. I can’t give more than two stars.

The whole place was dirty, and the rooms felt like jail cells. They’re far from downtown, about a 30-minute walk, and charge 1,000 pesos per night for A/C. They also insist on cash, and the service felt very dishonest. For what you get, it’s extremely overpriced. Save your money and spend a little more on a better hotel. If I had to name the worst hotel in Mexico, this would be it.
