Isel Magic Hotel

The room itself was nice, and the hotel was decent. We were put right next to reception, though, and an employee made a lot of noise with other people around midnight. We politely asked them to be quieter, but it continued. I could understand that kind of atmosphere in a bar or hostel, but this is a hotel without those other services.

The rooms are spacious, clean, and nice, with very comfortable beds. But check that your room has a window or balcony before booking. We were surprised to find ours had neither, and apparently only three or four rooms in the hotel have one.

I’d never stayed in a room without windows before, and it was hot and smelled bad. They only have three rooms with balconies in the whole building, so confirm you’ll get one before deciding to stay. After we checked out, the staff wouldn’t let us use a toilet either, since there isn’t one outside the rooms.

The room was clean, the staff were friendly, and having a balcony was a nice touch. There are plenty of shops and supermarkets nearby, and it’s about a 10-minute walk to the center. A nice place to stay in Bacalar.
