We complained and left after one day. The hotel felt poorly run, and although the staff were pleasant enough, they didn't respond to requests. It's very isolated, with no amenities nearby, so you'd need to drive or take a taxi into Bacalar every day, especially since the restaurant seemed unappealing. There were just two patio tables and some chairs, and the menu was very expensive, around $2-300, for food that looked average. We didn't eat there, but saw one person send a dish back. Drinks were also costly, $70 for a beer, with no service or atmosphere to make that feel justified. The one free kayak had a broken paddle. Our room was clean but very basic and smelled strongly of bleach. The lake view is nice, though plenty of other lakeside hotels have the same. It wasn't as bad as some older reviews: we saw no mice or trash lying around. Still a poor hotel experience at a high price. I'd look elsewhere.

The room was clean, comfortable, and had hot water, all for a bargain price beside one of the most beautiful lakes in the world. It's not the Ritz, but if you want somewhere beautiful and are watching your budget, this is a good fit. We have plenty of money, but saving on the room let us spend more on daytime activities. You're really just using it to sleep, and the pier is there if you want to get into the lovely fresh water. If you're after a low-key stay that's super comfy and a bargain, this is your place!

There's no water, bugs everywhere, and not even basic things like toilet paper, shampoo, or soap. The hotel has no manager or supervisor to help with problems or offer solutions. Although the laguna is right in front, the place is in the middle of nowhere, so it's inconvenient if you don't have a car. It may look like a cheap option, but you won't get any amenities.

The lake view is beautiful, and that's the only reason I'd stay here. My regular room had no hot water, the TV didn't work, and the bathroom smelled damp and stinky. It wasn't just my room: my family had suites for two, but also had no hot water and had to shower in a regular room like mine. Their bathroom smelled too, and one of their TVs was broken. The food was okay, with a normal selection, but pricey. Three stars just for the view, really.
