The pool was murky and didn’t look inviting, and not having breakfast included feels like a poor choice for a hotel at this price. The suite itself was clean, spacious, and had great lake views, but most rooms overlook a really ugly old motel-style building. Ground-floor rooms also seemed to have little privacy, with the baths clearly visible just a metre or two from the hotel’s only walkway. A new hotel is being built within a metre of the bedroom block, so there could be disruption. The place could be much better with more attention to practical details. Guest communication is only through WhatsApp, and response times are unpredictable. It took 20 minutes and a follow-up from me to get ice. The room had just four hangers despite a wardrobe over a metre wide. We asked for 15 more and only got eight. There was no fridge, and extra pool towels weren’t provided. The room towels barely covered the backs of the sunbeds. I messaged for more and got no response, so I had to collect two from reception myself. You also need a taxi to get to Bacalar town.

We loved staying here. The rooms are lovely, the staff kind and attentive, and the food is tasty and fairly priced. If you can, get a ground-floor room by the lagoon. It’s beautiful, and the deck is close enough to jump straight in for a swim. I’d happily come back, and highly recommend the hotel. It made our time in Mexico even better.

Parking was really convenient for us since we had a rental car, and the staff were attentive and kind whenever we had questions. The hotel is beautiful, with a lush garden and two pools, one facing the lagoon. We also appreciated the welcome drink and coffee when we left. We had a great stay and enjoyed Bacalar, but for the room price we were disappointed that breakfast wasn’t included. The à la carte menu felt expensive, and it would’ve been nice to have coffee in the room.

The bath on the terrace was a real bonus, and the food was very good. You can book a romantic dinner on the pier too. The rooms were clean, spacious, and nicely decorated, and the staff were sweet and accommodating. We had a great stay, would come again, and would recommend it to friends.

My wife and I spent seven nights here in October and ate all our meals at the hotel. Not one disappointed us. The staff, from management to the room cleaners, were attentive to our requests. It’s a great spot to step away from city routines and reconnect with nature, and it’s going on our shortlist.
