Hotel Jar8 Boca

The price is very economical, and the service was good, but the rooms need a fresh coat of paint and a much more thorough cleaning. The photos they show seem to be from when the place first opened. They wouldn't let us see the rooms before booking, and ours clearly smelled strongly of damp. We requested ground-floor rooms, which were spacious and had three double beds each, but the mattresses were worn out and crooked. In one room we found two dead cockroaches that had come up through the shower drain because it hadn't been covered properly. If they paid attention to these details, they could charge a little more and maintain the areas better.

The beds were awful, hard with springs sticking out, and the damp, old rooms had plastic-feeling mattress covers. They didn't provide toilet paper, blankets, or shampoo. I know it's a budget hotel, but they could at least be hygienic and more helpful. The staff service was terrible too. They got annoyed when I asked questions and answered reluctantly. I wouldn't go back or recommend it.

I stayed two nights, left, then came back two days later to stay here again. Reading the negative reviews on my way over had put me off, but I'd already paid a deposit for the rooms. Once I was there, I honestly didn't understand those reviews. The showers had hot water, the receptionists were very friendly, and the place was nice and super clean. There's a good pool with a wading area and a pool table. In my experience, the service was satisfying and the price was quite reasonable.

The room smelled like a wet dog, and the mattress had a hole in it. Water leaked out every time we showered, and the TV didn't work. Nothing seemed to work, and the staff looked like they weren't doing their jobs. Worst experience of my life. Please don't stay here.
