Cabo Vista Hotel - Adults only

The location worked really well, just a short walk from the marina but far enough away from the crowds of vendors. There are several good restaurants nearby at different prices, and we had free, secure parking for our car. They also lent us a beach umbrella and towels for the week. Our room was comfortable, clean, and felt safe, and the staff were very helpful. We added breakfast at the restaurant next door and really enjoyed it. Honestly, it was better than breakfasts at pricier resorts. Very good value, and I’d recommend it.

It’s at the top of a noisy hill, and the service was mediocre, though maybe that depends on the guest. I’m sure locals are treated much better. I got a one-star room in the basement, maybe because they were full for the holiday, but the service was one star too. Maybe there’s a connection, who knows. It was quieter than the second floor with the street noise, but I think only the third-floor rooms are suitable. Watch out for the basement window, since it doesn’t ventilate smells very well. I wouldn’t recommend this place or return.

The room was clean and decent for a budget hotel, a studio with a small kitchen. It’s in a quiet, convenient location outside the busy tourist center, but there are hardly any basic cooking or cleaning supplies, so the kitchen isn’t very useful. The fee issue is what soured the stay. I booked a non-refundable 21-night stay at Cabo Vista Hotel through Agoda. The booking clearly listed an eco fee of $1.97 USD per night, about $40 total, which I was fine with. At check-in, reception demanded 79 pesos per night, around $4.30 USD, nearly twice the confirmed amount. When I asked about it, staff said they knew about the difference and blamed the Agoda platform, but still told me to pay the higher fee or leave with no refund. That extra cost adds up on a long stay, and the attitude was disappointing. It’s been 9 days since I left messages for the hotel manager, with no response or explanation. Agoda still shows the original $1.97 fee, so this seems to be an ongoing issue. The old-fashioned keys and keycard are chained together and can’t be separated. I usually leave them at reception when I go running because I don’t have pockets for the bulky set. But staff often take 30-40 minute breaks, so trying to pick up or drop off the keys then can leave you locked out or waiting. They also won’t accept laundry deliveries from outside services unless you’re there in person, which is inconvenient for longer stays or regular laundry needs. It’s a basic, budget-friendly hotel, but the overcharged eco fee, lack of accountability, and poor communication from management really hurt the experience. Don’t expect a homey or service-oriented stay. It may be fine if you just need a clean room, but keep your expectations in check.

We stayed several nights and liked being close to the marina without being in the busy tourist areas. The room was nice, with a good kitchen area, and the AC worked well. The pool was small but lovely and well cared for. Breakfast at the attached restaurant was included and excellent every time.
