Those moto group stickers make sense once you get here. La Cueva del Pirata has welcoming people, terrific food, and an ocean view that’s hard to beat. We loved the ceviche and Baja tacos, and rock crab sounds like a must if it’s in season. Don’t skip the margaritas, either. The road out is rough, but it’s part of the outing, and the meal and scenery make the ride worthwhile. It’s the sort of day you’ll remember after you’ve left.

The restaurant downstairs is the place to have dinner, and the view is spectacular. This is also a handy overnight stop before prices go up farther north. The rooms are spacious, and I found the soft bed comfortable. There were just two downsides for me: there’s no way to control the heat coming into the room, so it gets chilly in winter, and the shower water was only a couple notches above lukewarm. It’s not a Hilton, after all.

I keep coming back to this as one of my favorite places in Baja. The service is friendly, the food is great, and the cocktails are well made. It’s affordable, too.

I was only passing through on a motorcycle ride and didn’t stay overnight. The place wasn’t busy, but I still waited more than an hour for a basic fish plate. I even had to go into the bathroom to get someone to take my drink order.

The room had just been renovated, and the bed was really comfortable. I paid a great price for a place right on the beach, and dinner at the on-site restaurant was tasty with a generous portion. I’d planned to return for breakfast the next morning, but the restaurant was closed because there weren’t enough overnight guests. I’m surprised the hotel wasn’t busier. I’ll definitely come back.
