Hotel Barranquilla

We ended up here for one night after our other host cancelled two days before we arrived. There were two couples, with rooms near reception. We had to pay 1280 MXN even though the booking reservation said 1080 MXN. Staff didn't speak English and didn't seem willing to communicate. Both rooms had windows facing the corridor, including the small bathroom windows, and the gravity ventilation wasn't working. With the humidity and moldy, unpleasant smell everywhere, we had to choose between leaving the corridor window open for slightly fresher air, along with all the noise from reception and people coming and going through the gate, or closing it and staying with the damp, smelly air. The beds were very hard and uncomfortable.

There was booming music from the venue next door all night, right through until 5 in the morning. The pool in the photo belongs to that neighboring establishment, and we weren't allowed to use it. At 5 a.m., we needed a taxi to the bus barn, but the front desk had no phone for calling one. We had to walk down the road and across the street to the OXXO to hail a taxi.

I booked this place for two pastors visiting from the states, and honestly, the hotel was just bad. The rooms looked really dusty and old, and the WiFi only reached two rooms. The price is cheap, though, so it might suit you if price is all you care about.

It's cozy, affordable, and ideally located. The WiFi signal was weak, but I'd still recommend the place.
