Cancun Blue Airport

It did the job as a hotel near the airport, and the reception guy even helped with our luggage. The room was clean and the hotel looked good in general. The neighborhood is a bit sketchy, though, and I wouldn’t want to be there without a car. It wasn’t as bad as everyone says.

Being close to the airport is useful if you need a place the night before an early flight. Apart from that, this was awful, the worst place we stayed during our three-week trip around Yucatan. The room and bathroom were extremely dirty, there was no running water in the kitchen, and the toilet tank took forever to refill, making it hard to flush. Water leaked from under the sink and covered the floor. Our fridge wasn’t working. The manager said he’d replace it, but when we came back that evening, he hadn’t. When we complained, he told us to put our food and drinks in the service boy’s fridge on the ground floor instead. Terrible place.

The people in charge were friendly and helpful, and the room was fine, with complimentary water and coffee. Still, this wasn’t the hotel I expected. It’s a small apartment building, and I didn’t see a shared area like the pictures might lead you to expect. It’s also difficult to find, with not much around.

Our car was stolen while we were inside the hotel, and the area feels dangerous. The hotel itself was filthy and full of bugs. There were wet towels in our room and hair in the bed, so it seemed like the room hadn’t even been cleaned.
