The ocean view is great, and there’s plenty of good food around. I especially loved the morning omelettes. Some of the waiters and other staff were cheerful, helpful, and great, though most didn’t speak English, and a few didn’t seem very invested in their jobs. The buffet also often had food that seemed bad or rotten. The room service, front desk, and concierge never helped us when we called during our three weeks there. Our shower leaked badly: the bathroom floor slopes away from the drain, so water ran out under the door and dripped downstairs. A worker spent half a day on it, but it still wasn’t fixed. We had to change rooms partway through the stay. The day before, the front desk told me staying in our room would be fine and booked it, but when I came back later, they said they had given it to someone else after I left. That was only one of many frustrating things. When we raised the safe issue, the staff didn’t speak English and handed us a note telling us not to leave valuables lying around. There were also problems with the facilities: the pool and towel desk closed an hour earlier than posted, and the tennis rackets and golf clubs were old or broken. For mini golf they gave us a sand wedge and iron, not putters. The online photos looked much better than things did in person. We came for the big kids’ slides, but they were closed 90% of the time we were there. We did see lots of people staying, so it can’t be all bad. Still, I’ve never been to a three-star resort before, so maybe this sort of thing is common.
