Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott Cancun Airport

The hotel ticked all my boxes for a late arrival in Cancun with two young children and a two-hour drive still ahead: airport shuttle, included breakfast, and a pool. We even got to use the large, clean pool before leaving. I'd been most concerned about the shuttle since our plane landed around 11:00 p.m. As instructed, I sent a WhatsApp message after we picked up our bags. We waited about 30 minutes, and the driver was polite and very friendly. The baby crib we'd requested was already set up when we arrived, too. Breakfast had a nice range of options, and my daughter loved making her own waffle. There's an OXXO convenience store next door, plus a pharmacy and a few other small shops. We got all the pesos we needed for the trip from the ATM by the pharmacy. If I need another night in Cancun, I'd definitely stay at the Fairfield again.

Room service arrived in about 20 minutes or less. The food was fresh and delicious, and it came on hot plates so it stayed warm. You have to pay for food separately by cash or card, since they won't add it to your room bill. The hotel also offers free airport transfers, with space for up to 10 passengers. Our wait was short, and the driver was polite. There's free breakfast in the morning, too. The room was clean, with plenty of hot water and decent water pressure. Shampoo, conditioner, and body wash were provided in the shower, but check the bottles work before you get in. There was a blow dryer, though the bathroom outlet got really hot when I used it. Overall, I was pleased with the room and the services we tried.

We'd recommend the Fairfield and would stay again. The overnight between flights was great: the rooms were spacious and clean, with all the amenities we needed and two bottles of water. Staff were friendly, and the pool area was beautiful. Breakfast was included, served buffet style from 6am, and had a good mix of western and Mexican food. It was just right before a morning flight. The one hassle was the airport pickup. After we texted the requested number on landing, we were told to wait at Terminal 4 stand B26 for 15-40 minutes. We ended up waiting closer to an hour, though it was still better than the ludicrous taxi prices. The shuttle leaves the hotel at 20 past and 50 past each hour, and our morning ride back to the airport went seamlessly.

The room and breakfast were nice, but we booked this place for its airport shuttle and that part was a mess. We contacted them several times on WhatsApp, but they never came to get us. Another couple was waiting too, after texting and calling without success. More than an hour after I sent my messages, they still hadn't read them. They told us the shuttle takes 45 minutes, but we'd all waited longer than that. I knew from the website they wouldn't reimburse our cab fare. Don't book this place for the shuttle. They clearly don't care about guests arriving late at night.
