The steakhouse was our favorite, and we really enjoyed the barbacoa tacos and gobernador tacos. At the Asian restaurant, I can’t recall the exact name, but I think we had the Tampico roll and udon beef wok dish. Both were full of flavor. The food selection overall was great, and the 24/7 coffee shop was a nice extra, with coffee, pastries, and ice cream anytime. I also booked a relaxing massage, which was soothing and well worth the price. We booked a swim-up pool room and were glad we did. The two main pools were beautiful and had plenty of room to relax. There was live music and something happening each night. Israel, Moises, and Blanca gave us great service throughout the stay. Being a convenient distance from the airport made getting in and out easy. We had a very relaxing visit and can’t wait to return.

For a long weekend and my birthday, this resort made it easy to forget about the world. The staff were so friendly and did a good job keeping the drinks coming, and the drinks themselves were nice. We especially liked the hibachi and Mediterranean restaurants, though the buffet was amazing for breakfast and lunch too. The beach was unswimmable because of the sargassum, and the room felt humid enough that my wife thought the sheets were always damp. Still, it’s a perfect place for a long weekend or about a week.

We spend a lot of time at all inclusive resorts, and the food here at Haven Riviera Cancun was easily the best quality we’ve had at one. It was a great week. The ocean front room in building 5 faced the full sun, which made it hard to enjoy in the morning, but the sun is out of their control. Denise, our butler, went the extra mile to welcome us, keep our favorite drinks stocked, and arrange special surprises when she found out it was our anniversary. At breakfast, Santiago greeted us with a smile that made us feel at home. Colunga at the bar made the pool days fun and kept my Belvedere stocked just for me. Ask him for a habanero tequila shot with a pineapple wedge, it’s amazing. A beautiful resort with great people who help make it a relaxing escape.

The check-in was easy, and the room was clean with everything we needed. It was listed as “partial ocean view,” but we could only see the water by standing at the very edge of the balcony. There was a good selection at the breakfast buffet, and we usually went to the cafe for lunch. We tried three restaurants. The Italian one was the only place we didn’t like. My seafood risotto had dried out mussels and clams, and the texture was really gritty. Drinks were okay, though the margaritas varied by bartender. Poolside service was inconsistent. The female server on the first day was right on top of things and kept our drinks coming. The next day, we waited over 20 min, while the male server brought drinks to the couple beside us within minutes. We eventually got our own drinks at the bar before he returned, and he seemed annoyed that we had. The beach wasn’t anything special, with a lot of seaweed, though they had chairs and loungers for enjoying the ocean breeze. The pools were relaxing, and the main one was livelier. Get up early if you want to claim a chair or lounge bed. The entertainment was mixed. We loved salsa lessons, trivia, and karaoke with Mar, and the live violinist was amazing. The singer at the foam party wasn’t my favorite.
