Laguna Suite

We had an amazing trip this past week. Beu, our concierge, was so helpful, with lots of tips and great places to check out. Joel, the bartender, makes the best pina coladas, hands down. He was quick and made sure our cups were never empty. Sergio was a great bartender too, and gave us wonderful service at breakfast and dinner. Everyone was kind and accommodating. Our room was really clean and pretty spacious, the beds were very comfortable, and the A.C got COLD when we needed it. The only downside was the TV stopped working. Luckily maintenance came at midnight and swapped it out. Such great service. 10/10 recommend if you're after a relaxed, quiet getaway. It was also great visiting all the sister resorts on the shuttles they provide. The food was SO GOOD. Everything we tried was phenomenal.

The shuttle runs every hour to different places, and the hotel itself is wonderfully quiet and peaceful. What really stood out, though, was the food. Everything from breakfast through dinner tasted freshly made, beautifully garnished, and thoughtfully seasoned, like meals at a fine restaurant. The staff, from the waiters and chef to the bartender, were so attentive and kind. I’m not sure why the rating is only 4.2. I was 10000% satisfied!

The rooms were clean, and the staff were friendly. We also felt safe in the gated neighborhood and went walking or running outside each day. The pool gets plenty of sun, and the music was quiet enough to read by, though it was the same handful of 80s songs on repeat. I needed my AirPods to keep from going crazy. Food was a letdown: there’s one restaurant with the same dishes daily, and it isn’t even a buffet. The drinks tasted watered down, including the margaritas, which didn’t taste like Mexican margaritas and never gave me a buzz. They even mixed water into the soda. I can get better drinks and Mexican food in New Jersey. There’s no gym, and the spa was out of service. There’s no thermostat in the room. The AC seemed to shut off at random, and I’d wake up sweating around 2 a.m. every night. It would take a couple of hours to cool down again. The hourly shuttle goes to three other resorts, but only Ocean spa resort lets you use the all-inclusive package. That place is bigger but much the same, with louder music, a larger pool, activities, and occasional live music. It’s on the beach, though the beach is a marina with very little swimming space. Beach volleyball was a plus. The food and drinks were about the same, but breakfast there was much better. I wish we’d tried it earlier. They have a buffet for all three meals and a restaurant that changes cuisine each night, and the food might be a little better overall. I wouldn’t recommend either resort unless the price reflected these drawbacks. For the same money, we could have stayed somewhere much nicer.

The staff were passionate and so accommodating, and the food was beyond extraordinary. The hotel is beautiful, private, and peaceful. I’d be happy to stay here again, and would highly recommend it to friends and colleagues.
