Malecon Rentals

We rented a condo on the 11th floor of the Cartagena building through Malecon Rentals, and it was dirty and outdated. The pool water was yellow, and both bathroom showerheads were so bad that we rigged plastic bottles over them, like makeshift camping showers. This was a $3300-a-month rental. The elevators were unreliable throughout our stay, with no consideration for elderly or disabled guests or anyone who couldn't manage the stairs. My 79-year-old mom got stuck once, leaving her stressed, tearful, shaking, and with high blood pressure. Another time we waited from 9:00 PM to 11:00 PM before my son carried her up to the 11th floor. That's 11 levels plus four parking levels, 15 floors total. I planned to work from "home," but the Wi-Fi was so slow or off for a week that I couldn't work from the condo. The manager kept promising, or lying, that a technician would come that day. I'd urge the rental association to find a manager who will look after the property, guests and tenants, and the business relationship. I'm going to dispute the charges for poor service. My family didn't receive reasonable service, so I believe we're entitled to compensation, perhaps a full or partial refund of the rental cost. We may also claim reimbursement for extra expenses caused by the poor service.
