Hotel Xbalamqué Boutique & Spa

I’ve stayed here for years when I’m in Cancun, and I love it. There’s a beautiful pool area and multiple restaurants within the hotel, with incredible Mayan art covering every wall. It feels like its own little museum exhibit. The neighborhood is a total vibe, and the park just behind the hotel is one of my favorite places in Cancun. It's family friendly, with incredible street food, shopping, and entertainment. I love watching the lil kids in the rented toddler cars : ). The people really go above and beyond to help, especially Nora at the front desk, an absolute sweetheart. Definitely check it out if you’re a cultural vibe traveler, you won’t be disappointed. I also highly recommend 100% Natural, just around the corner.

I noticed other guests chatting with the staff like they knew them well. The team is great and really friendly.

The location has worked out well for me: La Parque de la Palapas is a two-minute walk, and Mercado 28 is about ten minutes away on foot. I came to Cancun for dental work and am around halfway through my stay. When I arrived Thursday night, they upgraded me to a second-floor suite. It's a cute, kitschy place with a Mayan theme, and my room is spacious and clean, with no bugs. The staff are friendly, and the little restaurant off the lobby does a solid breakfast. A few small things could be better. The bed is hard as a rock, the shower could be hotter, and the water pressure isn't great. I've run into those same issues in other places while traveling. If I'm back in Cancun, I'd definitely stay here again.
