Waking up to the lake view was a lovely part of my stay at Hotel del Lago in Catemaco, Veracruz. I booked a king-size bed room facing the lake for 850 pesos, and it was comfortable and very affordable. The rooms were exceptionally clean and well maintained, and housekeeping kept things hygienic throughout my visit. Staff were warm, friendly, and quick to help with questions or requests. The setting by Lake Catemaco is peaceful, with beautiful views that make it a relaxing getaway. There's a pool for a dip on warm afternoons, plus an on-site restaurant with a variety of food, so you don't have to go far to eat. One small thing to plan around: hot water in the rooms can take about 30 minutes to reach a comfortable temperature. It didn't have much effect on my stay, but it's useful to know. I had a pleasant, affordable visit and would recommend it to anyone seeking a quiet retreat by the lake.

We had breakfast, and the portions were generous. The food was good, with reasonable prices, and the rooms were comfortable. Everything was very clean and well kept, too. The hotel is right across the road from the lake, with access to Catemaco's activities and amenities.

The restaurant is amazing, with five-star service and quality. Their ham and cheese omelet might be the best I've ever had, and they offer free coffee and conchas from 7-11am. The pool is nice, though the tiles around the property and in the rooms are very slippery. Rooms are big and mostly empty, with giant beds, air conditioning, and Roku TVs. The bathroom is small but has a decent shower. It's a small, no-frills hotel.

I had already booked another hotel, so we couldn't stay here, but we loved the restaurant enough to eat there three times. Everything was amazing, including the hot cakes at breakfast. I recommend the enchiladas suizas verde, mmm, I'm still thinking about them! The staff were great, really nice and friendly, and spent a lot of time talking with my family. Highly recommend!

The service fell well short of what they charge, which is as much as American hotels in the same category. There was barely a trickle from the faucet, and the pastries meant to come with the free breakfast weren't there. The coffee was cold and terrible, and we had to go beg someone to open the gate so we could leave.
