Posada Bugambilias

We planned to stay seven nights, but one night was plenty after what happened. We booked directly instead of through Airbnb, drove over, and paid. At first everything seemed fine: Josefa offered us a deal on a nice room with a balcony, and we unloaded the car. We were the only guests at the time. Then, around 6pm, teenagers started pouring into the house with alcohol and loudspeakers. Apparently the daughter had invited more than 20 people for a big party. The music shook the building, and people screamed all night. Josefa didn't seem to care at all, even though we were paying guests upstairs and couldn't sleep until the party finally broke up. We tried talking to Josefa several times, but got no apology, refund, or help. We live in Mexico full time and speak Spanish, and this was the worst hotel, posada, or BnB experience we've had here. That's saying a lot, because we've had some bad ones over the years. The Wi-Fi was so bad we couldn't upload pictures. Also, like in much of Mexico, there are lots of dogs barking in the area and on the street, including the dog here.

The beds were comfy, and the rooms were clean, with air conditioning and warm water. The place also has an amazing view over the lake. We'd definitely come back!

Chepina was a great host and chef. She told us about Catemaco and shared some options for things to do.

It's a comfortable place where you can feel at home. Nothing fancy, but it helps you feel connected to the area.
