Hostal Casa de Dante

The owner's breakfast was one of the best parts of my stay. Irene put out a different traditional Mexican dish each morning, along with changing fruit, fruit juice, and coffee or tea. It was delicious and filling, and I saved money by skipping lunch on several days. There’s a lovely two-level terrace with separate spots to relax or socialize. The hostel is well located, with food and coffee nearby, and an easy 15-20 minute walk to town. It’s a social place, and since it was low season I quickly befriended the few other guests and spent most of my time exploring Guanajuato with them. So much love has gone into making a gorgeous, authentic, comfortable place. This was easily my favorite hostel experience, and I’d stay again and recommend it in a heartbeat.

Doña Irene, the owner and host, is like a mom. She makes a free, authentic Mexican breakfast that’s really filling and delicious. The decor feels very Mexican and Guanajuatan, with lovely colors, and the views are unbelievable, the best I’ve seen at any hostel. I’ve stayed in hostels all over the world, and this is simply the best one. If you want the best stay in Guanajuato, hostel or hotel, this is it!

The rooftop terrace has awesome 180 degree views, and the breakfast was the best I've had in 5 weeks in Mexico. Everyone was friendly, and the place was clean. Climbing all those stairs is good exercise.

The owner and staff treat you like family, and the breakfast is a mini buffet that’s to die for. The hostel is amazing, with great views and a super quiet atmosphere. If you’re comfortable walking around 100 steps, this is the best place to stay.
