Holiday Inn Express & Suites Celaya by IHG

The breakfast and complimentary evening bar and snacks were a highlight during my one-week business trip, four months ago. I stayed at Holiday Inn Express and Suites Celaya, and found the staff friendly and attentive. The amenities were convenient for business travel. I’d highly recommend it.

The property felt clean and secure, and the service was friendly, prompt, and courteous. The location could be better. The rooms, though, are dark and a little dated.

Adrian at the front desk was awesome and very helpful, but the cleaning crew and the way the missing watch was handled left me unwilling to stay here again. We usually stay at the DoubleTree by Hilton down the street, and I regret trying somewhere different. We checked out early and asked for no room cleaning after the incident. We’d put everything we didn’t want touched in the closet, but left a digital watch on the bed by mistake, planning to put it on as we headed out. When we returned, the beds had been made, but little else seemed to have been done, and the watch was gone. The manager suggested we had lost it and said staff are checked on their way out. She also confirmed the hotel isn’t responsible for items left outside the room safe. Still, I think a smartwatch could be hidden in a private area that isn’t checked, and go unnoticed in a pat-down. If you stay more than one night, don’t assume a valuable left out will still be there.

The AC was loud and didn’t cool the room.
