Casa Liquen

The apartment was spotless and just right for my husband and me. Our host was helpful and quick to respond. We loved the rooftop view, and although we didn't use the pool, it looked lovely, with chairs and a hammock in a peaceful spot to unwind. Thanks for everything!

Chacala was a surprise for us. We came from Australia for a family Christmas with my husband and kids, and knew nothing about the place we'd chosen. Casa Liquen turned out to be beautifully built and decorated, with Mediterranean touches alongside modern Mexican architecture. The interiors were lovely and had everything we needed to feel at home. Greenery along the entrance, walkways, and around the thoughtfully designed pool made the whole place feel tropical and relaxed. The owner and staff treated us like family. We felt welcome even though we had children at a boutique hotel where we assumed couples and older guests might be more usual. The kids loved the pool, and we appreciated being close to the beach. Chacala has an amazing range of Mexican food. I'm not talking about high cuisine, but fresh, authentic local cooking. Ask Adriana, Casa Liquen's owner, for suggestions. She also had delicious vegetarian dips in the main fridge and kitchen pantry. One day they went perfectly with ceviche from freshly caught fish and our colorful Mexican meal. I still remember the palm tree views, crashing waves, the whale-watching trip, and the jungle walk up to a view of Chacala beside an inactive volcano crater. Casa Liquen made for such a comfortable boutique hotel stay that you'd want to return every year, even if you had to travel more than 10,000 km from Australia.

We felt so welcome at this hotel in Chacala. Adriana is lovely, friendly, and helpful, and I'm really glad we met her. I hope to stay at Casa liquen again soon!

Chacala is a tiny fishing town where you can walk around the whole place in just a few minutes. The hotel is beautiful and only steps from the beach.
