Hotel Simón Beach

I don't usually leave reviews, but I felt I had to this time. Our rooms weren't ready when we arrived late because they were still being cleaned. We were given two first-floor rooms, and mine wasn't very clean. There was dirt behind the bathroom faucet, the sheets were so thin you could see through them, and I pointed out that the bathroom and glass were still dirty. There were cobwebs between the mirror and TV, dirty glass surfaces, a broken fan switch, a rusty shower rack, and loose pool tiles. The pool water looked gray and cold, though we had been told it was heated. The two women working in the morning were loud and rude, and I heard them curse at another employee, Angel. He was the only person who was kind and helpful to us. The only iron available was broken and dirty. The worst part was the owner accusing us of breaking a glass door. We told him it was already broken when we arrived, and we weren't going to pay for damage we hadn't caused. The employee who said she'd cleaned the room hadn't done it properly and hadn't noticed the broken glass. I admitted we should have reported the problems sooner, but there were so many that we thought they already knew about them. They said the previous guests had two very hyperactive girls and that they would try to contact them. They also said that if they didn't answer, the male employee might have to pay. That seemed deeply unfair. The owner also tried to blame the night-shift employee, even though Angel had treated us well. The people meant to clean and check the room were the ones who had missed the problems. Please be aware of all this before booking.
