Hotel Villa San Francisco

The place was clean and nice, with a pool and complimentary breakfast for guests. Its location is handy for walking along the Malicone and browsing handmade local art.

We found our new favorite lakeside hotel that welcomes pets, even our Great Dane. The historic architecture is beautiful, and our reasonably priced suite had a refrigerator, AC, TV, and a huge terrace overlooking the malecón in Chapala. There’s a pool, a solar-heated jacuzzi, an on-site bar and restaurant, and breakfast is included.

We chose Hotel Villa San Francisco for its location and the look of the hotel, and loved our 10-night stay in a Villa Room with my wife and sister-in-law. It’s right across the street from the Malecon, just outside the front door. The place is quaint and beautiful, and we felt welcome as soon as we arrived. Paul at the desk helped us get settled, and the staff handled the little issues quickly. I speak very little Spanish, though I understand more, and staff on all shifts communicated well in both Spanish and English. My wife is bilingual, and my sister speaks fluent Spanish. On our first day, the shower head needed attention and the tub drained slowly. We went for a walk, and less than half an hour later Mauricio told us both had been fixed. I work in the plumbing trade, so I was impressed. Mauricio was there for us through most of the trip. The breakfast included with our room was always fresh and excellent. We had a hot-water outage while I was showering, but it was fixed quickly. Everything else was lovely, and I’ll definitely stay again. It’s a cute, quaint hotel with delicious breakfast and excellent hospitality. There’s also a pool and jacuzzi we haven’t tried yet, hopefully we’ll get to before we leave.
