State Inn

The room smelled a little musty at first, but opening the window and door for a while helped. It was cool and comfortable, with curved brick ceilings and an older style. The heavy pile of blankets on the bed took me back to childhood. The front desk clerk helped me with my cell phone, and everyone on staff was friendly. I'll stay again when I'm heading north.

My wife remembered this place as quite acceptable from a stay a few years ago, especially the brick domed ceilings in the rooms. Since it was our last night in Mexico and we had an early flight, we thought it would be a safe choice. A man carried our bags up one flight of stairs and showed us the room, then disappeared before I could tip him. The bathroom, shower, and toilet were clean, but the room smelled musty and not clean. The bedding looked old, and the towels were worn and tattered, though clean. The sink outside the main bathroom smelled like sewage. There was also a two-inch gap at the top of the door, enough for flies and whatever else to get in. We slept badly. The bed wasn't comfortable, and we only needed somewhere to spend a few hours before the flight. My wife thought her previous stay was better. Maybe we got the worst room this time. At 700 pesos, we probably shouldn't complain.

A clean, pleasant place with some character. The staff were friendly, and it had all the basics.

I always felt my things were safe here, and the service was great. The hot breakfast every day was especially good. It's a great place to stay in Chihuahua, though there's no fridge or microwave in the room. Maybe those come with an upgrade to the Jr suite.
