The food felt like home, with quality local ingredients and a special touch even in simple things like tortillas and salsas. Prices seemed fair compared with Europe. We also really appreciated how kind the staff were and the level of service, which felt up to luxury standards. When we contacted the front desk about a few things that needed fixing in our room, they handled it with a great attitude and no excuses. I'd encourage future guests to speak up, as I'm sure staff will resolve any issues. We started our stay with bad weather, so we spent more time in the room and noticed a few things to fix. The facilities show the effects of the pandemic and local circumstances, but the service makes up for some of that. As someone originally from the Huasteca, I understand better than most the obstacles to making this a very luxurious hotel, which it has the potential to become. It's our last day, and we're ending the stay on a high note.

The rooms were spotless, the staff welcoming, and the food was amazing at both the indoor and outdoor restaurant. We had a great view from the 3rd floor, and guest parking is free. I'd definitely recommend it.

The rooms felt brand new, with modern, clean finishes and comfortable beds, and every room had an amazing ocean view. The WiFi was very fast, handy for streaming or working remotely. We also enjoyed the fresh, well-seasoned food at breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and thought the restaurant staff were excellent. Prices there were about what we'd pay for a good restaurant in the USA, around $10-$30 USD per person. We're frequent travelers from the USA, usually to Cancún, Isla Mujeres, Playa del Carmen, Cozumel, and other places for the beaches and Caribbean Sea. Those areas are getting too crowded and expensive, even compared with American cities, so we tried playa miramar in humble Tamaulipas. Soleare opened around April-June of 2023 and is the newest place at playa miramar. There are a few things that need attention. We wanted a mini-fridge in the room, and a microwave would have been a bonus. In Tampico/Madero's sweltering humidity, cold water and soda matter, and room-temperature water was disappointing. The restaurant offered a takeout box for our leftovers, but there was nowhere to keep them without a fridge. The hotel beach has no palapas, umbrellas, or chairs, though a staff member carried chairs and an umbrella out for us when we asked. A clothesline or rack on the balcony would help with wet swimsuits after the pool or ocean. We hung them over the glass railings, which cheapened the look of the rooms and hotel. The pool also looked murky and dirty, as if it hadn't been cleaned recently. Dozens of seagulls and pigeons drank from it all day and left droppings on the concrete edges, and sometimes in the water as they flew over. We worried they might poop on our heads. I don't know whether bird parasites can thrive in pool water, but the thought made me want to get my family out. There must be a way to keep the birds away, perhaps technology using sounds too high-pitched for people to hear, or a staff member chasing them off. At the very least, staff could sweep up the dried droppings around the pool daily. At $280-$350 USD a night, this is pricey for a hotel in Mexico or even the USA. It's more expensive than some all-inclusive luxury resorts we've stayed at in Cancún. Given the price and the issues above, I can't give it more than three stars right now. It has a lot of potential to become an amazing luxury hotel right on the beach, though, and I'll come back to give it another chance. I'd be happy to update my review next time.
