City Express by Marriott Ciudad Obregón

Sleep was impossible in our room. The central air in City Express properties can't be adjusted beyond switching it off, and here it was either freezing, with wind and a bright blue light shining all night, or hot and stuffy. The windows didn't open. We booked a queen room for two, but got a double bed; staff insisted it was a queen and said that was the only bed option for our price. The common areas were in poor shape, with shabby carpet outside the elevators. Breakfast was just so-so.

We had to check out even though we needed to extend our stay, because the desk said there were no vacancies. We went to spend a few hours with family before looking for another hotel, and City Express was surprisingly available. My brother-in-law was staying there and said he didn't understand why they'd called it sold out when the parking lot was empty and there weren't many people around. Earlier, our first room had no working A/C, and the phone was broken, so we had to go to the desk. The woman there said it needed a reset and asked us to wait 15 minutes. After half an hour with no A/C, they moved us to another room. Its A/C worked all night, then shut itself off around 7 a.m. We reported that too and again were told it needed resetting. Both times, nobody came to our room, though they said they'd reset it, and it started working. Just sharing exactly what happened to us. Good luck, everyone.

The breakfast was very good, and the rooms were clean, quiet, and well equipped. They were small, though, and so were the chairs. The mattress was pretty hard too.

The breakfast bar had a nice range of food and was included, and the employees were very nice and seemed to anticipate what I needed. The price was right. I'd give it five stars if the carpets were cleaner, so I'm at four.
