Wyndham Garden Ciudad Obregon

The restaurant couldn’t handle our group. It took more than an hour for the first plate to arrive and nearly two hours for the last one. The water problems were even more serious. There were eight of us, with different issues in different rooms. We called three times about our room before it was fixed. One call was around 1 a.m., and nobody answered, so we had no water until staff arrived in the morning. The staff tried their best, but the hotel is very poorly managed and basic things weren’t working. We were surprised by the good reviews and satisfaction rating; something must have changed in recent months. I tried contacting them before posting to ask what had happened, in case our stay was unusual, but got no response. Save yourself the hassle and stay somewhere else.

Our room was spacious, the bathroom was nice, and the bed was comfortable. It had everything we needed, though the WiFi was a little unreliable. We’d paid for a pool view but got a view of the parking lot instead. The location is excellent, right in the city center, and service was fine. Still, it was strange that people experiencing homelessness were allowed into the lobby to ask guests for money.

The rooms were great, but the food was awful. The Caesar salad came without dressing, and the filet steak was overcooked and cut in half. It was the worst steak we’ve ever had. Everything at the breakfast buffet was cold. There was no pool, and it had been completely drained, though I don’t know why.

The rooms felt old, and we weren’t comfortable staying there. There was a gecko in ours. They’d also forgotten to leave an iron, and when I asked for one, I noticed a coin and a bobby pin on the floor, so the room hadn’t been cleaned very well. Traffic noise outside kept my husband and me awake at night. At check-in, I was halfway through my transaction when two men walked in demanding their room keys, without even saying hello or excuse me. I expected the receptionist to finish helping me first, but she did what they asked and spent 10-15 minutes assisting them. I was furious, but took my key and left once she was done. We’d reserved four days, then canceled the last three nights and moved to another hotel.
