XAIL Hotel

We had a pretty tasty breakfast, and it was comfortable and relaxing. The coffee was very good, the service was fine, and bread with jam and butter was a nice choice. But the bread itself was stale, there were only four pieces, and it looked like it had been sitting around for days. We didn't pay for it, just tried it. The melon was green and really hard. They offer package deals. We went on a weekday, when there are fewer options; we wanted eggs and dried beef, but they gave us a list of everything they didn't have that day. There's more variety on weekends.

The restaurant has a nice setting, the service is excellent and helpful, and the chilaquiles with cecina were delicious. The rooms are comfortable and easy to sleep in. Staff said the hotel was only eight months old. My one complaint is the pool: it looks lovely, but it's so cold nobody can use it. Heating it would make the hotel much better.

The restaurant was the worst part for me. At least half the menu wasn't available, which would be especially tough with dietary restrictions. The same meal could be ordered ten times and come out differently every time. The coffee was awful, basically water, and they overcharged us. For over €100 a night, this was one of the worst value-for-money stays I've seen. You get the picture, stay away. From outside, the hotel looks new and decent, but the facilities either didn't work or barely worked. The elevator had been out for more than a week. There were water outages in the rooms, hot water took ten minutes to come through, sewage backed up into the toilets, and there were sewage smells. Soundproofing was nonexistent. There was drilling and other noisy work at all hours. Laundry lost half our clothes, and housekeeping kept bothering us about cleaning even with the "Do Not Disturb" sign up.

The hotel itself is nice, but eating at the restaurant takes forever. Anything you order, whether pancakes, fruit, or eggs, takes around 40 minutes on average. The wait is absurd, and if you don't have another option, you're stuck. I hope they improve it.
