The hotel's location is the main reason I keep coming back when I'm in Colima. It's right on the city's main plaza beside the cathedral and government offices, in the heart of colonial Colima. Across the plaza is one of Mexico's best state history museums. I recommend seeing the Colima State Museum for its outstanding shaft-tomb culture exhibit. I stay here for medical appointments, and my hospital is a short walk away. Having the hotel's lot also takes care of parking. The rooms are simple but spacious, with what you need for a night or a week, and the beds are comfortable. On every visit, the maids, waiters, and desk clerks have been efficient and knowledgeable. If they don't know something, they'll find the information for me.

We're here for the horse parade and have a balcony room facing the street. At 8,800 pesos for 3 nights, it is expensive, but the location is the thing. It's a lovely old hotel, and the staff are friendly and attentive.

For a quiet stay, this downtown spot probably isn't right, especially if there's an event in the square. You'll hear it, and one event went on until 2am. Even so, we slept through it once it was bedtime. Sabora Fest 2025 was an awesome experience too. The location is great for walking around downtown and visiting the local shops. Waking up to church bells and birds in the trees was beautiful. We loved going downstairs for breakfast and relaxing to the sound of traffic and birds before heading out. The AC worked, and the water was hot with plenty of pressure.

The staff were friendly, helpful, and spoke English. We arrived in the city hours before check-in, so reception kept our belongings and then let us into the room two hours early without charging us. The room was spacious with a queen bed, and we slept well despite the short earthquake earlier that day. At first we were disappointed that the window couldn't be opened, but we got used to the room. It was quiet at night. The air conditioner was quiet too, though it was spitting out water. They fixed it right away after we reported it. The location is great, with lots of nearby restaurants and a lovely square across the street, full of lush plants and trees. Birds of different kinds were active and entertaining. There were leaves in the pool, and we'd just come from a place where the pool was well maintained. There's a gym and weight room at the back.

The air conditioning and TV worked great, and most of the staff were nice, though one person was obnoxious. Still, the bathroom was the worst part of our four-day stay: it was tiny, dim, had no hot water, and the toilet was very low. Its mostly see-through glass doors were about a foot from the bed. Our suite itself felt small and cluttered, and the floors were very dirty. They were cleaned only once while we were there. The elevator made me nervous, and I don't know when it was last inspected. I love Colima, so it's hard to leave a bad review, but this place may not suit Americans used to basic U.S. hotel standards. It might work if you're comfortable traveling off the beaten path; otherwise, you may want another option. I hope they improve.
