Hotel San Sebastian

We'd driven eight hours on a terrible road through the jungle and arrived at this hotel exhausted. After we rang the bell several times, someone came to the door about 3-5 minutes later with a cat, but didn't open it. Eventually a man told us they couldn't honor our reservation because they don't allow pets. I showed him the website, which said pets were allowed, but he responded rudely and then closed and locked the door. It was awful being in an unfamiliar town, trying to find a room at the last minute that would take pets. This was the first problem we'd had in three weeks of travel, thanks to San Sebastian Hotel.

The staff were friendly and helpful, and there was a very good pizza place nearby. The bed was comfortable, and the park wasn't far away. I stayed for two nights at this very nice hotel. It gets pretty cold in Comitan, so extra blankets would be useful.

Getting hot water for a shower takes ages, and after 10 minutes it was barely warm. The room wasn't well lit because the electricity service is a real problem, and the hotel internet was very bad, with Wi-Fi coming and going. There aren't enough outlets to charge a phone, tablet, computer, and other devices. Parking is terrible too. You need someone to unlock the gate to take your car out, and someone again to let you back in at night. The main entrance is always locked as well, so you need somebody to open it whenever you leave, even on foot.

The service was excellent, and the rooms were nice.
