Hotel Los Valles

The location is good and it covers the basics. A couple of things, though: there was no cold water, and when it came back the toilet water was really dirty. They refreshed our room but left the door open when they went out, so don't leave cash or valuables there.

After the hotel owner learned that we were from Israel, he refused to give us rooms.

The rooms were tiny, much smaller than they looked in the photos, and had a musty smell. The only ventilation was a tiny window. Two German shepherds at the neighboring property barked all night, so we barely slept. Getting settled was confusing. We drove into a rough-looking parking lot and three boys came up asking for money. There was no office on site; another guest pointed us to the little souvenir shop on the street corner to check in. A young girl took our details but gave us no instructions. She charged a 100 pesos deposit for the two keys to our two rooms and said we'd get it back when we returned them. We left early for the train station, but the shop was closed and nobody was there to take the keys. Since we were making a round trip, we planned to return them later. When we did, they said they wouldn't refund the deposit because they didn't know what had happened to the keys. We explained we'd had to catch the train while they were closed, but they still refused, though we had brought the keys back. What a scam. I wouldn't recommend this place; there are better hotels nearby at a similar price with better service and comfort.

We had paid in advance and called to confirm, yet they weren't expecting us and put us in a different hotel. The other place was great, so I guess we got lucky.
