The location is the main reason I’d suggest Hotel Casa Frida. It’s a good choice for a few days if you want a simple place in a convenient spot. My room was spacious, the bed was comfortable, and both the room and shower were clean. The floor felt a little sticky, though, and the shower had almost no pressure. For a short stay, I managed. Parking was a hassle. The lot shuts at 10 p.m., and after coming back late from a wedding, I had to call ahead so the hotel could let the parking manager know. Even though parking was included, he wanted to charge me extra. I paid 20 pesos to avoid an argument and get some sleep before an early checkout. It felt a bit like having a curfew.

I’m staying here for three weeks and I’m delighted with the room and terrace, and the service has been impeccable. The hotel is in a great spot, just a couple of short blocks from the zócalo. It’s a small, charming place. The rooms are nicely decorated and spotlessly clean, most with a roof terrace or a small terrace off the room. The owners and staff are excellent and always ready to help however they can. The showers have very hot water, the linens are tasteful and spotless, and there’s a large-screen TV with lots of channels.

That colonial-meets-urban feel was great. I also loved having a private balcony off the room. The zocalo and centro are only a one-minute walk away.

A quiet, relaxing place. My room was clean, the location was excellent, and the service was good.
