Hotel La Iguana

The hotel is clean and pleasant. I can't comment on the pool because I didn't use it. When I was getting ready to leave, I called reception for 15 minutes to ask them to check my room, but nobody answered. I went to reception and nobody was there either. Then I went down to the parking lot and honked, but no one came out. The gate and front door were locked, so I couldn't leave. A woman finally came out after I'd spent 30 minutes trying to get out. I was nearly ready to call the police.

The sheets and blankets felt really old, and the room had no water or fresh toilet paper. The TV remote was broken, and the pool was very dirty when I hoped to swim before we left. Parking was the worst part: with a large SUV there was barely room to maneuver, and I was woken several times overnight to move it so arriving guests could park. I could even hear beds creaking in other rooms, which didn’t feel like a family hotel. We were there for a wedding with my family and had picked it just as a place to sleep. My stay was terrible, and I definitely wouldn’t come back.

We had to find somewhere else after another hotel canceled our reservation, and the receptionist here was so welcoming and explained everything clearly. The rooms were clean, the bathroom was lovely and roomy, and there’s a pool too. I’d give this place a 10. Great stay.

For what they charge, I expected far more. It’s listed as a bed and breakfast, but there’s no restaurant on site, and personally I wouldn’t give it even 2 stars, let alone the 5-star standard the price suggests. The doors to the rooms need better security. It would also help to have bath mats instead of towels, a coffee maker and cups for morning coffee, plus bottled water and glasses. There was none of that. I hope they take the suggestions seriously, because otherwise I won’t be back.
