Hotel Misión Express Durango

Breakfast was great, and the staff were polite and spoke good English, which came in handy. The location was good too. Our room was clean, though small and basic, with no mini fridge or microwave. We had booked a king room but were given a queen instead, and got a refund for the price difference. Then the key card wouldn't open the door. It took a couple of trips to the front desk to get a new one, which worked fine.

The hotel was clean when I stayed there the Monday before our planned Saturday visit. But when we arrived Saturday, they couldn't find our reservation. The manager said bookings were automatically deleted at 5:00pm if they hadn't been confirmed or the guest hadn't checked in, and no one had told us about that. We got there at 5:20 after traveling from out of town, had to look for another hotel at the last minute, and paid a lot more for a room. This was ridiculous, and I won't stay here again.

I had an excellent experience, though there was one thing that bothered me. I don't smoke, but I saw an attendant demand, nearly yelling, that people smoking fairly close to the entrance move away. There isn't a designated smoking area, though.

Getting to the airport was convenient, but the hotel is a long way from downtown and the historic sites, which could be a hassle for some. The staff were friendly, the rooms clean, and the internet worked well. I had a pleasant stay, though the breakfast was mediocre.
