Chan-Kah Resort Village

The restaurant staff were good, but the food was terrible and needs a lot of work. The nonstop music around the restaurant and pool was even worse, loud and annoying enough to ruin the jungle feel. The rooms were okay, though the furniture seemed dated. There weren’t any outlets by the beds, so I had to charge my phone in the bathroom. Wall plugs or USB outlets would help.

For me, the noise made this a deal-breaker. I was hoping to relax by the pool or sit quietly on my terrace, but loud, harsh rock and party music played all day. You couldn’t even hear your own voice around the pool and restaurant, and it was clearly audible even in my bungalow at the very back by the jungle. Soft background music would have been fine, but this drowned out everything and made it impossible to enjoy the surroundings. When I asked reception, they said the music is always that loud during pool hours, from morning until evening, and nothing would change. That’s hard to understand for a hotel that presents itself as a peaceful, nature-focused jungle retreat. At first glance, the stylish property looks beautiful and respectful of nature. The quiet-hour and environmental rules, including possible 1,000-peso fines for loud music or littering, also suggest that peace and harmony matter here. The reality was the complete opposite. I can’t recommend Chan-Kah Resort Village and would have preferred to check out right away.

We reserved two premium villas for three nights, but they wouldn’t let us shift the dates by just one day. We ended up paying for an extra night despite staying only three nights. That felt unacceptable, and I regret that they weren’t more flexible.

The misunderstanding was disappointing. We were charged for a night we hadn’t stayed, even though we explained that one of their clients had told us it was okay to leave our things in the room. We still had to pay for it. These were the most unprofessional people I’ve ever dealt with. I hope you find a better hotel in Palenque.
