There’s a good foundation here, but management needs to learn what foreign visitors need and offer a clearer reason to stay. Until rates are more competitive or there’s a unique selling point, I’d choose town or somewhere closer to what you want to visit. This place felt like an isolated, empty ghost town in the jungle. As of January 2026, there was ongoing construction noise and very little atmosphere. The hotel felt like a “golden prison,” isolated from local competition and built by the government to support the Tren Maya project. It's about 4.5 km from the Archaeological site, beside the ruins parking lot rather than the ruins or train station. There's no dedicated walkway or clear signage to the transport hub for the site. I hear they offer a shuttle to and from the train station, but your booking platform may not mention it. Prices are higher than options in Palenque town or nearby forest areas. Dining, activities, and laundry leave you dependent on the hotel, and getting a fair price elsewhere means paying for taxis back and forth, which wipes out the convenience of staying nearby. More varied dining prices and on-site laundry would help, as would a marked pedestrian path to the archaeological transit center. They could also match local rates or offer “Rail & Stay” loyalty packages.

The hotel makes excursions easy. Open air carts take you to the ticket office across the street, where they arrange the drive to the Palenque Archeological Site. You can also book with tour companies such as MayaTur, which I highly recommend, and they'll pick you up from the hotel. Staying here, and in Chiapas overall, was the highlight of my time traveling around the Yucatan on the Tren Maya. The grounds are beautifully landscaped and put you right in the jungle. The rooms, staff, and restaurant were fantastic, and everything was so clean. I had an amazing experience and can't recommend the place enough.

From the moment I arrived, everyone was friendly. The front desk was ready to answer questions and help organize a tour so I could make the most of Palenque. I was surprised by how much I liked the room, the view, the atmosphere, and the service. Everything was amazing, highly recommended.

Traveling from Cancun to Palenque takes almost 11 hours, and the cafeteria options are limited, so bring snacks. Parts of the route aren't especially interesting, but arriving in magical Palenque made the trip worth it. To connect from Cancún airport to the Maya Train, you have to take a bus with irregular service that isn't always on time. A cab is another option, but be prepared to pay $800 Pesos. The trains were clean and beautiful, air conditioned, on time, and well guarded by the Armada Nacional. The stations were modern and clean too. There was wheelchair access, including a special wagon with adapted facilities. Staff were super kind and helpful.

I visited with my mother and a few aunts, including one who uses a wheelchair. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The food was delicious, and the tours on offer were all interesting for our group. We totally recommend it!
