Hotel Villa Mercedes Palenque

Being in the forest and hearing the birds in the morning was really refreshing. We stayed for one night in December 2025, the week before high season, and this was one of the nicest hotels of our trip through the Yucatán. The room was clean, the hot water worked, and the water pressure was more than enough. Staff were helpful. Spanish is useful, though a few people could understand and speak English too. It's a great base for the archaeological site: the meeting point is around a 15-20 minute walk or a five-minute taxi ride away. There's a restaurant serving all three meals, but the food and drinks felt expensive for the quality.

The rooms were lovely and the hotel itself is beautiful, with a great restaurant. We had a long walk to our room, though, and getting a drink at the pool bar took ages. The person working there had to fetch everything from the restaurant, so each time we waited nearly half an hour.

Our room wasn't cleaned properly. There was human waste in the toilet when we checked in, and the floor went unswept and unmopped for three days. Breakfast service was a mess too, with five buses leaving at once. On top of that, you can hear your neighbors' entire conversations because it's so loud. I don't recommend this hotel.

The grounds are full of greenery and kept beautifully, and the jungle-like setting feels peaceful. The rooms were spacious, clean, and comfortable. After exploring, we found the pool a relaxing place to rest, and the staff were attentive and friendly. It's also conveniently close to the Palenque archaeological site, making it a wonderful place to stay while visiting the ruins.
