City Express Plus Ensenada

The ocean view was about the only good part of this stay. The pool was tiny and the water looked cloudy, as if it hadn’t been cleaned in a long time. Happy hour was advertised, but there were extra conditions that weren’t shown on the signs, so the deal wasn’t worth it. The location is also far from anything. The parking lot is a dusty field that looks unfinished and sketchy. The outside of the hotel also looks unfinished or under heavy construction, and I don’t think guests should be hosted in that state. As soon as I entered the room, it felt hot and smelled damp. The air conditioner didn’t work, and the windows are designed not to open, so we were stuck in a hot room. It took several tries to reach the front desk. They said they’d fix the AC remotely, but an hour later the room was still warm. We called again with no answer, then went down in person and were told maintenance would come. After another hour, nobody showed up. We called again, and they said they’d try remotely once more. I pointed out they’d already done that, but they insisted it would work this time. It didn’t. The maintenance man arrived two hours later than expected. He couldn’t fix the unit in the room, so he said he’d try from outside and asked us to leave our door open. That meant we couldn’t leave the room with our belongings unattended. Two hours passed and he never came back, and no one gave us an update. The hotel said there were no other rooms and offered no compensation or other way to make things right. I called my credit card company to cancel the booking; they tried calling the hotel but got no answer. By then the room was unbearable, so we left. At the desk, they said they didn’t know about the situation. I was fed up and left. This was the worst hotel experience I’ve had. It’s unbelievable that Marriott owns it. Please avoid it. There are better places at the same price or less.

This was our second stay here, and the service has gotten really bad. We asked for a blanket and they didn’t have one. The sheet on one of the beds was stained with blood 😫🤮. The woman in the lobby had a really bad attitude, and the pool isn’t in good condition.

For the price, this hotel is really poor. The bathroom is tiny, and both the room and breakfast were disappointing. The view is the only nice thing.

The breakfast was surprisingly good, and the atmosphere was calm and relaxing. I stayed at City Express Plus by Marriott Ensenada in October and really enjoyed it. The hotel is clean and modern, with a good location. My room was comfortable, and housekeeping kept it tidy every day. It’s a solid place with friendly service and good value. I’d definitely come back.
