Hotel Punta Morro

I had a business breakfast here with three customers. The staff were very kind and offered us a private room with a nice view and a relaxing atmosphere. Dinner was good enough and delicious. I'd recommend this place to you.

The place is very elegant, the beach view is wonderful, and the food was high quality and great. I hate to criticize somewhere that already has great ratings, but I want to be honest: our service fell short. The waiter seemed dull and dry, though maybe he was just having an off day. We weren't asked whether the meal was okay or if we wanted anything else, as you might expect at a high-end restaurant like "Villa Marina ". We also wanted more to drink, but he never checked, so we didn't get the chance to order. I feel bad about the experience because it wasn't the cook's fault or the place or everyone else, just our waiter. Come see for yourself, maybe your experience will be better than mine. The restaurant food and service were EXCELLENT, a solid five stars, and the exterior is beautiful. But the rooms are dated and need a lot of repairs. The furniture and doors don't fit the exterior's mid-century vibe. Our screen door fell off, the bathroom was a bit dingy, and the carpet felt kind of gross. It definitely wasn't worth the $$$ we were charged.

The restaurant was the best part of our stay: outstanding food, though pricey, and the beautiful setting is part of what you're paying for. The location is amazing, and if a peaceful night's sleep matters, this may be one of the better options around since other nearby hotels are noisy. Still, at $280 USD per night, I expected more care and better service. With more thoughtful management, this could become a world-class wellness destination, but right now it feels like a missed opportunity. Our room was beautifully decorated, but it had a strange smell, mosquitoes, an AC that was loud and hard to use, and a TV that didn't work. We had a wedding to attend and limited time for breakfast, so I asked if coffee could be sent to our room in the morning. They don't offer room coffee service, even for an extra charge, and breakfast doesn't start until 8 AM, which doesn't work well for an early schedule. Arrival was also disorganized. The guard at the gate didn't properly greet us or ask if we were guests. He let us through without telling the front desk. We parked and got out carrying two bags each, with no welcome or directions, and the desk didn't know we were coming. With only 20 rooms, I expected a more personal arrival and for the desk to know who was checking in, especially since there were only two new reservations that day. Check-in took 15 minutes, and the bellboy didn't help with our bags until much later, after they'd been sitting there. There were several service hiccups that didn't match the high-end price.
