Motel Agora

I just needed somewhere to sleep after a trip that got me back to Tijuana at 1 A.M., and I didn’t have a reservation, so I couldn’t find a place in Ensenada. I eventually found this place, but they only let me stay from 2AM to 6AM, four hours. The room wasn’t awful, though it smelled smoky and felt “old,” and the price wasn’t that good. Service wasn’t good either. About 15 minutes after I got there, a group of gangsters came into the parking lot yelling and fighting. They left after around an hour. The setup didn’t feel right, and I wouldn’t stay here again.

The bathroom was dirty, the toilet wouldn’t flush, and the shower drain was clogged. The TV remote batteries were dead too. There’s no A/C, just a cheap fan. I paid $100 for something worth $50 USD. I’ll never come back or recommend it.

We couldn’t get any rest because the people upstairs kept making noise. They started walking around in shoes at 3am and sounded like they were moving furniture. We were downstairs, which I’ll never do again. They didn’t stop when we complained to the lobby. Someone came up to their room, they quieted down briefly, then carried on. We’d planned to spend Sunday in Ensenada, but instead we packed up and left at 6 am. My husband got so angry that he started punching the ceiling to try to make them stop, but it didn’t work. The people upstairs left before us, and my kids were upset too. It was a disaster.

When I arrived, my reservation was messed up and they bumped the price to a laughable $50 a night. At least the hourly room rates were very reasonable. If you want somewhere clean and safe, with fewer than average hookers, you’ll probably want to go somewhere else.
