I slept well, and it was quiet enough to take an evening walk through the vineyard. The heated pool stays open until 9 pm, and the fireplace is turned off then too. It’s a lovely, clean, safe hotel with a guard at the gate, and we were happy we found it for a last-minute girls trip to El Valle. The resort is peaceful, with a spacious room, lots of shade, and beautiful surroundings. Bring your own supplies, especially drinking water, since there are no nearby stores and the room had no water, coffee maker, or mini fridge. You might be able to buy things at the restaurant. I’d bring a coffee maker and coffee as well. I also forgot my earpods and could still see their location at the hotel. I called and emailed, but they said they didn’t have them. That was disappointing, and I don’t think I’ll return.

Surya turned out to be boutique sized, with resort amenities, which was a pleasant surprise since I’d expected somewhere much bigger and busier. The grounds are beautiful and well kept, and I loved the orange blossom smell when we walked into the lobby. The room was modern and very clean. As two women, we felt very safe, with a guard letting us in and out each time. We chose it for our first anniversary in Valle de Guadalupe after feeling overwhelmed by all the hotel choices, and we were glad we did. The whole staff was friendly and accommodating, always checking on us. They served us by the pool several times, from evening wine to breakfast, and even brought dinner to our room one night. The on-site restaurant had some of the freshest food we ate in Valle, especially the omelette. Their wine, particularly the Rose and Nebbiolo, was also among our favorites, so we brought a bottle of each home. It’s conveniently located near wineries and restaurants. We’ll stay at Surya again whenever we return.

We got away for a couple of days with the girls, and I’m already looking forward to another trip. It’s an easy two-hour drive from San Diego, and the resort felt tucked away and private off the road. We had a great time visiting wineries along Ruta del Vino and doing a tasting at Surya. Paulina walked us through each wine’s history, where the grapes were from, and the barrels used. The food was immaculate and all the wine was incredible. Horacio and the rest of the staff were amazing. Horacio showed us to our room, opened the door, and told us about the property and area on the way. Thanks, Horacio, for a memorable stay!

The room had beautiful design, and the outdoor spaces and pool were lovely, clean, and rustic. It was a beautiful stay and totally worth it. A mini fridge would have been nice, though. The shower water didn’t drain fully toward the drain, so our rug got wet, and the toilet was in a separate little room without ventilation. That might depend on the room.

We liked the modern room, and it was easy to unload our things since we parked close by. It faced the highway, but traffic was light, just a little noise. The location is great for hiking, with a vineyard to walk around and lovely wineries nearby. Google Maps sent us about 15 minutes away from the right place, so I called the office. They were helpful and sent the exact location by WhatsApp. I also bought a hat I really liked in the lobby, with Surya on it.
