The property feels like the middle of the jungle, and the eco lodge is set up well for tourists. The cabanas are very nice, with air-conditioning or a great fan, hot water, comfortable beds, and mosquito nets. It's close to the river, so the boats are easy to reach. Staff were welcoming and friendly, breakfast is served early at the restaurant before you head out, and reception has drinking water for guests. Hotel Nueva is fantastic, I couldn't recommend it more.

My partner and I had a really beautiful two-night stay. We visited the Yaxchilan ruins and ate like kings at the restaurant. Try the Bistek a la mexicana y quesadillas, and the guacamole is epic, says a pure Mexican! We had all the services we needed, including Wi-Fi, shared or private bathrooms, a very nice all-wood lobby to hang out in, a cozy restaurant, and night security. It's sad that so few tourists seem to be going there lately, since the community, Nueva Alianza society, is working hard to keep the place at its best. Don't hesitate to explore this charming spot in the jungle.

We even saw some monkeys during the day, and the chefs made us breakfast to go when we had to leave super early. The restaurant has quite a few choices, and the food was delicious. Wi-Fi wasn't great, but our cabin had everything we needed, including a hammock and a little gate to keep the stray dogs away. The beds had mosquito nets. I would've loved to stay another night!

The place is a dusty, deforested dump in extreme heat and humidity, with nothing to do. Locals are ready to overcharge for anything you do or buy. Even outside our room, the first thing we saw wasn't the jungle, if there is any there, but staff motorcycles parked by the shared bathrooms. The place also didn't feel secure, especially with the heavy weaponry staff carried at night and kept behind the reception desk. I stayed with my girlfriend for two nights, 2-4 March 2023. After eating a chicken taco at the restaurant, I got food poisoning, suffered for two days, and had to cancel my ruins trip. They didn't apologize, just said, "what to do, every stomach is different." I'd been eating all the street food I could find in Mexico for the previous two weeks. The restaurant is also very expensive for what they offer, and there's no other option nearby. They asked us for 2600 pesos, 140 dollars, for a three-hour trip to the ruins for two people. When more guests arrived, they asked 2000 pesos for five people, which is less. We finally got a deal for 1500 pesos from a local trader, so they tried to rip us off. I missed the tour anyway because of their chicken taco. We booked two nights, but after arriving asked to cancel the second night and get a refund or an upgraded room. They refused, so we were stuck there. Then the food poisoning happened, so we had a reason to be stuck. Use this only as a gateway to the ruins. Spend your time and money in other nearby communities that are more respectful toward tourists. DO NOT GO THERE!

We stayed one night to visit the nearby Ruin site, and had a cozy time in the cabin. If you want the experience of sleeping in a cabin in the "jungle," this place is right for that. The cabin had air-conditioning, a fan, and running hot water. We really enjoyed our stay, and if you're lucky, you can hear and see the howler monkeys.
