Best Western Plus Gran Hotel Centro Historico

The restaurant was understaffed, and getting coffee or anything else took ages. The food was okay, but if you're in a hurry, ask for the check when they bring the meal. I stayed four nights and won't return. The cleaning staff were awesome, and both rooms I rented were very clean. At breakfast, I argued with the morning receptionist because I had paid extra for three people, but she wouldn't check and kept shaking her head no. I paid for the first breakfast, which was a disappointing coffee, juice, and toast, nothing else. Later I went back, and another receptionist checked and confirmed I was right.

The room was filthy, with mildew, dirty bedding, and a dirty bathroom. There was just one blanket, and it wasn't even on the bed. The air conditioning barely worked. Kids made noise in the hallways, and there was a fistfight on the first night. I complained both nights, but they said they wouldn't refund me if I left early. I called reception twice, and they said they'd send security, but there was noise all night. I came from the USA expecting cleanliness like the hotels with the same brand there, and I should have stayed at Holiday Inn Centro Histórico, where I'd been comfortable and found it super clean. Do yourself a favor and find a better hotel.

It's a nice hotel, though I found three cockroaches in my room. They can turn up in clean places too, and this hotel is 49 years old. One person at the front desk has a mean look, but I can't really complain. It's a 2-star hotel, so I shouldn't expect 5-star service.

Good value, with a pool and helpful staff, though the pool is cold in winter. The hotel is old and has a bit of a smell. The street and other guests can be noisy, the elevator gets busy during holidays, and it's far from the city center.
