I wouldn’t recommend the “La asistencia” room with two twin beds. Its bathroom is separate from the room, so you have to walk past the kitchen and other guests, then unlock it with a key whenever you want to shower or use it. That got really annoying. I stayed three nights, and neither the room nor my “private” bathroom was cleaned.

Someone found a cockroach in her suitcase. Terrible!

The photos on booking and the location both looked appealing, but the stay was disappointing. We expected city noise, especially in the Micaela room with its terrace. What we hadn’t realized was that the terrace was shared. Guests arrived at 12:30 am, settled in, then spent two hours drinking and making a racket right outside our door and window. There was no hot water either, and the stair railing looked flimsy. The stairs are also narrow and numerous, which made it hard to maneuver our suitcase. I would change accommodations if I could.

The location and being able to come and go at any time were the only good parts. I stayed four days with my family, and twice the water was completely shut off for hours, leaving us without enough even for the bathroom. I texted the manager about it and got only a "Good morning" in reply. They never followed up, not even at checkout. There’s no staff, so everything goes through text, but the person in charge didn’t respond. The room was noisy too, and we could hear everything from the street.

It’s a beautiful colonial house, carefully maintained down to the smallest detail, and quite affordable. Breakfast is described as free, though I never found it, so that claim should be removed. Some hostels give you two servings of fruit, yogurt with granola, and coffee. They could offer an American-style breakfast of stale bread or crackers with butter and jam.
