The courtyard was my favorite part of Casa Kali. It’s green, peaceful, and open to fresh air, but gets no direct sun, so the house stays cool. There’s a kitchen, a pool, and fridges in both the room and kitchen. I used the built-in filtered water to boil water as an extra precaution and had no problems. The neighborhood is great, with good food and bars nearby, and it’s about a 15-20 minute walk to the central area. The common space is lovely for relaxing, and there was a complimentary cold beer from a local brewery in the fridge when we arrived. I had trouble getting Wi-Fi in my room, though it worked in the common area. Barrio Mexico has a collection of boutique homestays, and I’d happily return. The courtyard made the stay feel restful and different from a traditional hotel, and really lifted our vacation.

The room was comfortable and clean, with a desk and good Wi-Fi. The shared spaces, including the kitchen and small dip pool, are really beautiful and well designed. It’s also close to lots of the best cafes and restaurants in Americana, and the facility managers were warm and helpful. A few things made the stay less convenient. There’s no staff after 6 PM, and I was lucky to arrive while the attendant was still there when my room code wouldn’t work. Everything is handled by chat, and customer service felt a bit flat. They weren’t flexible about early check-in or late checkout. My street-facing room got a little loud sometimes, though earplugs worked fine for me. Light from the hallway also came into the room whenever someone walked past, so bring an eye mask if that might bother you. I was very pleased overall and would stay again. With a long-stay discount, I’d consider staying for longer too.

I ended up extending my stay because I liked the place so much. It’s beautiful and in a great location, and the breakfast cafe was a nice bonus. I got good value, and was able to work in my room with decent Wi-Fi.

I really fell for this place. It’s beautifully and tastefully decorated, super clean, and in a great location.

There are some great places to eat and drink nearby, and the place itself is very nice and clean with everything you need. If you’re driving, there’s a parking lot called La Lupita one block away, so you don’t have to leave your car on the street.
