Hilton Garden Inn Guadalajara Airport

For what this hotel costs, about twice as much as others nearby, we expected much better and came away very disappointed. The location was easily its best feature, and we liked having food choices inside the airport terminal. But after arriving around 8pm, five hours after check-in began, we still had to wait about 20 minutes because our room wasn't ready. Once inside, we found stained towels and hair in the sink. The AC wouldn't cool the room, there was no hot water for a shower, and a light-up mirror in the bathroom was stuck on, keeping us from falling asleep. Given the price, I think we may be better off booking somewhere else.

We had a great stay at this Hilton. It's just inside the airport, past baggage claim, and check-in was easy. The beds were great, and it had all the usual Hilton amenities, which made it very convenient for a short visit. We could watch planes taking off from our window, and Starbucks is nearby. We'll stay again!

After a late arrival, I thought paying the extra for a hotel inside the airport would be worth the convenience, but it wasn't. With taxes, my night cost $250 as a Hilton member, two and a half times the nearest hotel's price. At 6am, the bedside alarm went off and I stumbled around trying to shut it off. The staff should have made sure it wasn't set. I was left irritated and short on sleep instead of rested for my next flight. There was no TV service either, and the front desk abruptly said they knew about the problem and had reported it. The water bottles were tiny, a concern in Mexico where you don't drink tap water. I've stayed at the nearby hotel without these issues, so I'll go back there and take their shuttle.

It's about a five-minute walk from the baggage carousels, heading right to the elevators. Checking out is just as quick, and you're at the check-in gates in another five minutes. Very practical, and I'd recommend it if you need a good sleep during an evening connection.
