A charge for a parking ticket that turned up inside our car ended up defining our stay at Hotel Plaza Genova. Tania and Oscar charged us 250 pesos for a slip they said was lost, and blamed us for it. We found it later that same day, but they still refused to admit the error or return the money. When my husband tried to explain calmly, they wouldn't listen. They said they were following hotel policy, although nobody had explained that policy at check-in or told us about a fee for a supposedly lost ticket. It was frustrating to be charged over something that seemed to come from their own mishandling. Their unprofessional manner made things worse. They acted like they had all the authority and no accountability. Other employees also said they were uncomfortable with how the two behave at work because of their romance there. That added to our concerns about the hotel's management and professionalism. We left feeling disrespected and disappointed. The hotel itself may be fine, but staff interactions like this can ruin a stay. I hope management takes it seriously so other guests don't have the same experience.

Tatiana repeatedly messaged and harassed us on WhatsApp while we were out of the room. That felt intrusive and inappropriate, and the service overall fell short of even basic hospitality. The room was in poor shape too. The curtains had stains, the toilet wouldn't flush properly, and the drains were clogged. Cleanliness and upkeep were far below what I expected. Based on this experience, I can't recommend Hotel Plaza Genova. There are other places with much better service, respect for guests, and cleanliness.

The bed was very comfortable, and they have several kinds of pillows to choose from. It's pretty quiet despite being within walking distance of most major attractions. The rooms are just OK, but the price is good for what you get. The heat didn't work, so we switched the unit off overnight and were comfortable. For breakfast, we recommend Café San Pedro - Catedral. The location, coffee, and food there are excellent.

I loved staying here. The price was just right, and if you pay in advance they don't hold a deposit. It's about 30 mins from the airport and 15 mins from Tlaquepaque. On Av. Juarez in downtown Guadalajara, you can walk to the Cathedral, mercado San Juan De Dios, mercado Corona, and Plaza Tapatia, among other spots. The staff were great, and the rooms and hallways were clean. It was quiet, and the beds were comfortable. The elevators are small compared with those at other hotels, but they work perfectly, so it didn't bother me. I tried the breakfast buffet and would give it 8.5/10. There were different food choices and it tasted good, though I thought the presentation could be better. I highly recommend it!

It looks different online and on travel websites, I assure you. The place is extremely dirty and badly deteriorated, more like a pay-by-the-hour, short-time hotel. It's NOT what the listings show.
