La Perla feels like Guadalajara to me now. I told Lars on our last day that from now on I'll say I'm coming to La Perla, because it has a permanent place in our hearts. Things picked up right where they left off with Lars and Memo when my partner and I returned in April after almost five years. This was our sixth visit, and we're already wondering why we waited so long. The warm, funny, generous, engaging, intuitive way Lars and Memo host people is hard to match. They read the room and know when to join in or give you space. They also have a knack for spotting what guests are interested in and connecting them with people from their growing circle of friends, which makes happy hour feel lively and welcoming. Antonio has become house manager, and Tere has joined as breakfast cook and housekeeper. Their kindness and attentiveness add even more to the place. The four of them, Lars, Memo, Antonio, and Tere, are what make La Perla such a memorable stay, one of the best in Guadalajara and, honestly, one of the best in the world. It doesn't hurt that the boutique hotel is in a beautiful art-deco mansion in leafy Colonia Americana. Our favorite is the queen suite with balcony, though there isn't a bad room in the house. I'm smiling as I write this. We never really left.

Room #5 in this old traditional house had all the modern conveniences I needed, plus a lovely balcony overlooking the street. Traveling solo, I felt welcome, safe, and well cared for. The staff were interesting, helpful, and informative without ever being intrusive. I loved the margaritas and conversation on the rooftop, and breakfast in the morning, too. La Perla is in Colonia Americana, within walking distance of great restaurants, bars, bakeries, and Guadalajara's historic section. It's a beautiful, relaxing place to stay, and I recommend it completely. I'm planning to return this spring.

The rooftop really sets the tone here. At breakfast, the hosts offer thoughtful ideas and detailed guidance for planning the day. In the evening, guests can swap stories about life and their adventures over margaritas or whatever drink they brought along. La Perla is a warm, personal place in beautiful Colonia Americana, well placed for exploring Guadalajara and the surrounding area. The rooms are comfortable, individually furnished, and filled with art, and there's a rooftop deck for breakfast and evening drinks. Lars, Guillermo, Tere, and Antonio gave our family a memorable stay, and we're very grateful. Hasta la próxima!

I wish we'd stayed longer. The whole experience was top notch, and La Perla makes a great base for a memorable trip in the safe Colonia Americana neighborhood. Guillermo, Lorenzo, and Antonio can help you plan outings around the city and nearby, and Guillermo also runs one-of-a-kind tours to Tequila, so plan ahead. Guadalajara has colorful neighborhoods, markets, and a lively food scene. Stay here!

Happy Margarita Hour on the rooftop brought guests together for stories and new friendships, with Lars and Memo helping the conversation along. They even joined us for breakfast. You can tell guest comfort matters to them, and the service from the owners and staff went above and beyond. I felt like I was staying with good friends. I loved the Queen Grand room. It was spacious but cozy, with a very comfortable bed, nice linens, and a canopy I liked snuggling under with coffee in the morning. There was a coffee machine just outside my door, plus tea, bottled water, a dispenser, a fridge, and a microwave for leftovers. The whole house is beautifully decorated, with art everywhere. Breakfast was delicious and just the right amount to get going: eggs, yogurt, granola, fresh fruit, toast, and sweet breads. Thank you, Lars, Memo, Antonio, and Tere. I can't wait to come back and share the B&B with my husband.
