voco Guadalajara Expo by IHG

The hotel is beautiful, secure, and close to lots of amenities. Miriam at reception was especially kind, professional, and charming, and her outstanding service made my stay even better. My heartfelt thanks to her.

My friend and I arrived on May 30. The next morning, May 31, she left her engagement and wedding rings on the nightstand beside the phone before we went to Tequila around 10 am. We had put up a do not disturb tag so nobody would enter. When we got back around 11 that night, the rings were gone. The manager on duty checked the room but couldn’t find them. My jewelry was still in my box at that point. On June 1, we left around 7 am for the EIOB expo. I returned at about 1:30 to rest, and while packing that night I found that my gold ring was missing from my jewelry box too. I hadn’t worn it during the stay. Someone had accessed our room without our consent. The next day we complained to the security manager Alma. From the start, she blamed us and took no responsibility. They said they had to see whether the cameras reached that far, and suggested checking our clothes in case we’d left the rings there. After a four-day “review” of cameras that don’t reach that area, they tried to blame my friend for extending her original reservation by two days. Why hadn’t the front desk clerk told us there was an issue? They still took no responsibility. I’ll never stay here again, which is unfortunate because we attend the EIOB expo every year.

We only booked this place because no other hotels were available, and I won’t stay here again. It looks older underneath a redo meant to make it seem newer. The shower knob was hard to figure out, and our toilet was backed up. We called the front desk, but nobody came to fix it during our stay, so we had to use the bathroom across the hall in our traveling companions’ room. Parking costs extra and breakfast isn’t free. I also left a dress behind, but housekeeping said they never found it. We’d paid before arriving, yet they asked us to pay again at check-in. We had to wait while they worked out that it was already paid.

We arrived very late and I was exhausted, so I didn’t make a big issue of the dirt since we were only there for one night. But for the price, I was really disappointed. There was hair everywhere, in the showerhead, on the towels, and on the sheets. Disgusting. The TV is small and not a smart TV. I’d avoid staying here.
