The Roof Backpackers Hostel

The staff were all friendly, and the bed was roomy and comfortable. I also found the shared kitchen nice for preparing food, and the internet was excellent. The accommodation is clean and comfortable, with a very good location: the metro from the Guadalajara bus terminal makes it easy to reach, and you can walk around the whole center of Guadalajara from there. They can book tours to tequila, chapala, and other places, and gave detailed information about the areas near Guadalajara. I had a satisfying stay.

The price is very reasonable, and the beds are exceptionally large for a hostel. From the location, it's an easy walk to the city center and to the bus station for Tequila, which many people visit while in Guadalajara. The staff were brilliant, spoke very good English, and were genuinely enthusiastic when explaining tourism in Guadalajara.

I didn't stay at the hostel, but I booked their Tequila tour on WhatsApp and they picked me up from my hostel. The tour was very good. Most people on it spoke Spanish, so the guide mainly used Spanish. The guide also spoke English, though I don't know if that's usual, so ask ahead if you don't speak Spanish.

We'd tried two other Guadalajara hostels before finding this one, and it was exactly what we wanted. The roof is the big draw, with sun from sunrise to sunset, thoughtfully tended plants, and everything up there made from recycled materials. Inside, it's sparkling clean, especially the kitchen, and there's free filtered water plus a cold water dispenser. The dorm beds are huge. It's a quiet hostel, so probably not the place for a solo traveler hoping to make friends. Great for some R&R, and good value.
